Equipped for future market requirements

The future has a long tradition at EK – because we have always invested consistently in new technologies and processes, in quality and efficiency. Three new machines for production and toolmaking now impressively underline this commitment.

“Despite our already high standards, we are committed to continuously improving product quality,” emphasizes owner and Managing Director Ralf M. Kronenberg. Every investment is based on sound strategic considerations. The best example of this is the new servo press supplied by EK’s direct neighbor AMADA (see also the report under Business). On the one hand, the two existing large automatic punching presses were working at full capacity. At the same time, we analyzed what the product portfolio should look like in the future. E-mobility in particular brings with it many stamped/bent parts that often require larger progressive dies. Only one of the two previous machines could process the required dimensions – as a result, there was no backup machine for some items or tools.

“The new system now combines two key requirements, namely 200 tons of pressing force and a larger tool installation space. In future, our work preparation department will be able to plan machine utilization in the heavy-duty area more flexibly and have a backup for all items on the heavy-duty systems,” explains Dominic Vieth, Technical Sales / Project Management at EK.

Our in-house toolmaking department plays an important role in our claim to supply all services from a single source. This is why considerable investments were made in the future here too. The new Z24 grinding machine from Ziersch can grind with high precision in automatic mode. Let’s see whether she also remains in service for 40 years like her predecessor. In addition, with the Z510 we have added a grinding machine with which the cutting plates for large tools can now be ground without any problems. Here too, the investment is in line with EK’s ongoing development towards large tools for the AMADA presses. “Because,” says Ralf M. Kronenberg, “reacting quickly to changing market conditions is crucial for us. That’s why we are constantly investing in technologies and processes that increase the flexibility and adaptability of our production.”
