The magic of two materials

Components are becoming more complex – and we are keeping pace: More and more customers require high-quality plastic coatings for our stamped metal parts or entire assemblies. As a one-stop store for quality and precision, we also manufacture such hybrid parts in-house exactly according to customer specifications.

The demand for hybrid parts with very individual combinations of metal and plastic is constantly increasing. Our solutions are as varied as the requirements placed on the plastic components – whether as mechanical protection, safety features, electromagnetic shielding or to achieve other product properties.

Plastic is very important for power electronics in electric vehicles, for example. It serves as an external shield and protects the copper parts. And wherever busbars are used, plastic sheathing protects people and systems from overvoltage – and can significantly reduce the size of a control cabinet, for example. This is because the space required for clearance and creepage distances is reduced by around 60 percent compared to non-encased rails. These routes ensure that neighboring electronic elements are not disturbed.

At EK, customers receive solutions for such tasks from a single source and in the well-known top quality. Thanks to our extensive expertise in both stamping and plastics technology, we combine the know-how for both worlds, i.e. materials, under one roof.

Many customers come to us with design specifications. Our experts in the development department check their manufacturability and adapt them if necessary. However, we also see ourselves as a solution provider and development partner. This means that, depending on the possible applications, we support customers right from the development stage of an assembly or optimize existing assemblies. If punched parts are overmolded with plastic, there is no need for assembly during processing.

Customers benefit from our one-supplier strategy, especially when it comes to finished assemblies: we provide them with hybrid parts made of metal and plastic from a single source and they do not have to commission or coordinate several suppliers. Naturally with the same quality and precision that characterizes every EK product.
