For almost five years, our old website had already completed its service on the net. For sworn nerds of the digital age, this has been the case since the early Paleozoic era. Of course, during this time we have devotedly maintained them, now and then implemented new techniques, communicated innovative EK products. But an ultimate relaunch had long been projected – and was successfully completed in fall 2020. And this is much more than mere facelift …
The previous EK website was designed on the home page according to the then fairly new principle of the one-pager, i.e. as an Internet presence consisting of only a single page. An advantage of this design is the uncomplicated presentation of the most important content as well as the ease of use through simple scrolling. But in order to present all EK business units on an equal footing and our constantly growing product portfolio adequately on the website, we needed new subpages and more detailed menu navigation. And, of course, a clear navigation, starting with the language selection German, English or Italian up to faster loading times – all realized with contemporary state-of-the-art technology.
New EK website enables even more effective product search
Today’s user habits are met by modern video inserts for each main point. The download area with information about the company and its products has also been made much clearer and is available more quickly: after just two clicks, users are usually already at their destination.
On our new website, for example, the product search function in the glass area (EK Connect) is so convenient: The user receives the desired search results in real time: simply clicking on an icon or selecting a manufacturer is followed by the results without any time delay. The various filter options can be combined with each other and refine the result once again according to the individual specifications.
Jörg Leinfels, who is responsible for the concept and realization at BARON LEINFELS, the communications agency commissioned with the relaunch, says: “The optimized usability results, among other things, from the improved structure and the optimized navigation. After just a few clicks, the desired information is available from every EK company division.” The responsive display has also been greatly improved once again and access to social media such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Xing has been expanded to include Instagram.
Ralf M. Kronenberg states with satisfaction: “With this successful relaunch of our EK website, we are not only once again transforming the innovative power of our company into the worldwide web, but also supporting both our customers and interested parties in their product search with forward-looking digital solutions in the future!”
